Recognise a possible incident

Warning signs include unfamiliar administrator accounts, unexpected password changes, altered configuration, suspicious uploads, unknown API activity or unexplained redirects.

Immediate response

1. Preserve evidence such as timestamps, screenshots and relevant logs.
2. Restrict or disable affected accounts.
3. Rotate exposed passwords and service keys.
4. Confirm the integrity of the live files and database.
5. Restore from a verified backup only when necessary.
6. Document what happened and the corrective action.

Communication

Inform affected partners or users when their access or data may be involved. Keep messages factual and avoid claiming the incident is resolved before verification is complete.
