Domain or subdomain?

A full domain is an address such as yourlabel.com. A subdomain adds a name before an existing domain, such as artists.yourlabel.com or portal.yourlabel.com.

For most Artist OS installations, a subdomain is the easiest choice because the main website can continue working normally.

  • portal.yourlabel.com
  • os.yourlabel.com

Best practices

  • Keep the address short and easy to type.
  • Avoid spaces, accents and unusual symbols.
  • Use a name that still makes sense if the platform grows.
  • Do not use www unless it is intentionally reserved for Artist OS.
Do not change the address casually

Once artists begin using and sharing the domain, changing it can break bookmarks and previously shared links.
