Why create a manual backup?

A manual backup creates a restore point before you make important changes to Artist OS. It can help you recover your installation after an interrupted update, a configuration error or an unexpected server problem.

Create a fresh backup before updating Artist OS, installing a module, changing important settings or moving the platform to another server.

What can be included?

Depending on the Backup Manager configuration, a complete backup may contain:

  • Artist OS application files
  • Configuration files
  • Uploaded media and documents
  • Database content
  • Partner and White Label settings
  • Branding configuration

Create the backup

  1. Sign in to Artist OS with an administrator account.
  2. Open Administrator from the main navigation.
  3. Select Backup Manager.
  4. Click Create Backup.
  5. Wait until the backup process is complete and the confirmation message appears.
  6. Download the generated backup archive to your computer.
Do not interrupt the process

Keep the browser window open while Artist OS is creating the archive. Closing the page or losing the server connection may result in an incomplete backup.

Identify your backup

Backup files use a date and time in the filename, making it easier to identify the newest restore point.

Do not rename the archive unless your installation instructions explicitly permit it. The original filename can be useful when you need to verify when the backup was created.

Store the archive safely

  • Keep one copy on your local computer.
  • Keep a second copy in secure cloud storage or on an external drive.
  • Do not store the only copy inside the same hosting account as Artist OS.
  • Treat every backup as confidential because it may contain account and configuration data.

Create a backup before every important change and maintain a regular weekly backup while the platform is actively used.
