Writing Artist Biographies

A strong artist biography explains who the artist is, what the music represents and why the story matters. It should be informative without becoming promotional or exaggerated.

What to Include

  • Artist name and location
  • Musical style and influences
  • Relevant background or origin story
  • Important releases, performances or achievements
  • Current direction and upcoming activity
  1. Open with one clear sentence defining the artist.
  2. Describe the sound, influences and background.
  3. Add selected achievements or notable releases.
  4. Close with the artist’s current focus.

Writing Guidelines

  • Write in the third person unless a platform requires otherwise.
  • Use factual, current information.
  • Avoid unsupported superlatives and long lists.
